Each year is complaints filed in that year’s first 3 years on the road, divided by however many of those years have passed. A model year younger than 3 years is too early to compare, so it is left out of the years named as having the fewest or the most complaints. Recalls are a separate count. The numbers are for the US-market Rivian R1T. How we count.

Known issues for this generation

NHTSA recall 22V-641 covers certain 2022 Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles whose front seat belt anchors may have been inadequately attached to the B-pillar; Rivian's remedy is to inspect the front seat belt assemblies and properly secure the bolts as needed. Recall 23V-783 covers certain 2022-2023 R1T and R1S vehicles in which a software update may have deactivated the defroster and defogger controls; Rivian released an over-the-air software update as the remedy.
