About ReliableAutoDB

ReliableAutoDB is a reference site: one page per model year, built from the public NHTSA record, so a used-car search does not start from a marketing page or a forum thread.

What this is

Every make, model, and model year on this site has its own page: NHTSA recalls, owner-filed complaints, crash-test stars, and EPA fuel economy, rebuilt from the public record on every release. The recall table, the complaint record, and the fuel-economy table are the same numbers a person could pull from NHTSA and FuelEconomy.gov directly — laid out per vehicle instead of split across three federal lookup tools.

Why it exists

The bare "year make model" search belongs to Carfax, Kelley Blue Book, and CarMax, and "problems" belongs to sites that already specialize in complaint write-ups. This site’s pages exist for one query underneath both: how this year’s recall and complaint record compares with the other years of the same model, stated from the numbers, not a rewritten blurb.

Who runs this

ReliableAutoDB is an independent, ad-supported site, not affiliated with NHTSA, FuelEconomy.gov, or any automaker. The "How we count" page is the closest thing to a masthead: every rule a page follows is written down there, not decided case by case.

What this site does not do

No accounts, no alerts, nothing dynamic — every page is static, rebuilt on a schedule. No 0–100 score and no Buy, Caution, or Avoid label. No Kelley Blue Book or J.D. Power ratings: those are licensed data this site does not scrape or republish. See "How we count" for the full rules a page has to pass before it ships.
