Each year is complaints filed in that year’s first 3 years on the road, divided by however many of those years have passed. A model year younger than 3 years is too early to compare, so it is left out of the years named as having the fewest or the most complaints. Recalls are a separate count. The numbers are for the US-market Hyundai Ioniq 5. How we count.

Known issues for this generation

Recall 24V-868 covers certain 2022-2024 IONIQ 5 and other Hyundai and Genesis electrified models: the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may become damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power. Dealers inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse as necessary and update ICCU software. The campaign also names IONIQ 6 and Genesis electrified models, so published totals are shared. Recall 22V-324 covers certain 2022 Ioniq 5 vehicles where a software error in the Shifter Control Unit may disengage the parking mechanism and allow rollaway; dealers update SCU software.
