Each year is complaints filed in that year’s first 3 years on the road, divided by however many of those years have passed. A model year younger than 3 years is too early to compare, so it is left out of the years named as having the fewest or the most complaints. Recalls are a separate count. The numbers are for the US-market Honda Passport. How we count.

Known issues for this generation

Honda technical service bulletin 20-029 covers 2019 Passport vehicles with the 9-speed automatic transmission that shift harshly or jerkily during steady acceleration; Honda traced the symptom to abnormal adaptation values stored in the transmission control module's software rather than to any mechanical fault. The remedy reprograms the transmission control module, after which the system needs about 500 miles of normal driving to relearn the owner's driving pattern before shift quality returns to normal. The bulletin does not apply to hard shifts produced by the paddle shifters or to vehicles with fewer than 500 miles on the odometer.
