Each year is complaints filed in that year’s first 3 years on the road, divided by however many of those years have passed. A model year younger than 3 years is too early to compare, so it is left out of the years named as having the fewest or the most complaints. Recalls are a separate count. The numbers are for the US-market Honda Fit. How we count.

NHTSA recall 13V-157 covers 2012-2013 Fit vehicles: the electronic stability control system may allow excessive yaw rates at high steering angles with certain tires, which prevents the system from functioning properly, fails Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 126 for electronic stability control, and increases the risk of a crash. Honda first recalled 43,782 Fit Sport vehicles in April 2013, then expanded the campaign in July 2013 to include an additional 48,138 Fit base-trim vehicles, for a total of 91,920 vehicles. The remedy is a free VSA software update performed by a Honda dealer; no hardware replacement is required.

Known issues for this generation

NHTSA recall 23V-046 covers 2018-2020 Fit and 2019-2022 HR-V vehicles together: a design error in the audio display power circuit can keep the rearview camera image from appearing when the engine is started with a key, which fails Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111 for rear visibility and reduces the driver's rear view while backing up. Dealers update the display audio unit software free of charge, and owner letters went out March 13, 2023. This recall was later superseded by NHTSA recall 24V-384: vehicles already repaired under 23V-046 need the new remedy completed, and Honda mailed those owner letters July 8, 2024. Separately, 25,367 2015-2016 Fit LX-trim vehicles built April 11, 2014 through July 2, 2015 and not equipped with a sunroof were recalled as NHTSA campaign 15V-697, because improperly manufactured rear grab handle brackets could puncture the side curtain air bags on deployment.

What generation is my Honda Fit?

2012-2013 is the 2nd generation (facelift); 2015-2020 is the 3rd and final US generation. Honda skipped model year 2014 and discontinued the Fit in the US after 2020.

0W-20 on both generations tracked here; about 3.8 qt (2nd-gen facelift) or 3.5 qt (3rd gen) with filter.

Does the Honda Fit have a rearview camera recall?

Yes — 2018-2020 Fit models share recall 23V-046 with the 2019-2022 HR-V for a display power-circuit design error, and that recall was superseded by 24V-384, so a car repaired in 2023 still needs the newer remedy.
